Principal's Corner

West Point Elementary School (WPES), nestled on the same campus as the historic West Point Military Academy, is a beacon of high standards and excellence. We are privileged to be surrounded by top professionals in virtually every field, providing our students with a unique and enriching learning environment.

Academically, we strive to provide a rigorous and engaging curriculum that challenges our students and prepares them for future endeavors. Our teachers are highly skilled professionals who are dedicated to ensuring that each student reaches their full potential. We also offer a range of extracurricular activities that complement our academic programs and allow students to explore their interests further.

Developmentally, we understand that each child is unique and has different needs. To address this, we have implemented a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) that provides targeted support to students based on their individual needs. This system allows us to identify students who may be struggling and provide them with the necessary interventions to help them succeed.

We have a robust social program that teaches students essential skills such as resilience, empathy, self-awareness, and conflict resolution. We also provide various opportunities for students to socialize and build relationships with their peers, such as through clubs, sports, and school events.

As part of our commitment to supporting our unique population of military-connected students, we encourage involvement with the West Point Community. We host a variety of social events, including the Fun Run, Field Day, Month of the Military Child celebration, and Read Across America. These programs are designed to align with the students’ needs to maintain strong connections with their families, peers, and school community.

Our school’s unique location and population present us with both opportunities and challenges. We are proud of our students and their accomplishments, and we ensure their achievements are recognized in local and DoDEA publications. We continually assess our programs and services to ensure they are aligned with our students’ needs and are responsive to changes in our community.

In conclusion, our school is committed to providing a comprehensive educational experience that engages, motivates, and supports our students academically, developmentally, culturally, and socially. We believe in nurturing the whole child and preparing them not just for academic success, but for life.
