Greetings, WPES families!  Please see the information below.

New Staff-ESOL Teacher

We have some great news to share! Our ESOL teacher has arrived earlier than expected.  Please see her bio in the parent email sent  on December 6th.  She was able to meet the students and co-teach with Mrs. Dawson prior to winter break. She is excited to be a part of our team. If you have any ESOL questions or if you would like to send her a warm welcome, she can be contacted at  Tess.Anselm@dodea.edu .

New Staff-Second and Fourth Grade Teachers

Our new second grade and fourth grade teachers have moved here from our DoDEA Pacific Region. Their Bios are also enclosed in the December 6th email to parents.  They will be ready to meet students and co-teach with our long-term subs when we return from holiday break.  Mr. Witt and Mrs. Garcia have been doing an excellent job and we appreciate their dedication and hard work. They will remain in the classrooms when we return from break for a few days to ensure a smooth transition for our students.

News from The Library

Thursday, December 12, 2024, was the last day our school’s Information Center circulated physical books (check-in and check-out) before the winter break.

Never fear… MackinVia is here!! The students will have access to MackinVia for the entire winter break. The first week in December, Ms. Leon will be discussing how to access the available eBooks and audiobooks within MackinVia. Students will be able to access them over the winter break.

DoDEA Chromebooks

We have a wonderful community of support at every level of our school. Please ask your child to share the digital projects and activities that are ongoing using the DoDEA Chromebook for education!  If you do not know the login information for your child’s Google account, please reach out to our Educational Technologist, Tricia.Willis@dodea.edu.  We thank you for your continuous partnership as your child learns to safely navigate online resources.  As a reminder, the December 6th email attached the Student Responsible User Agreement and a Stay Safe Online flyer.

Gingerbread Designers in the Neighborhood

In December, the Universal Pre-Kindergarten Neighborhood hosted a delightful family event just before winter break. Families had the opportunity to visit and admire student classwork on display while savoring delicious hot cocoa. Teachers and students had pre-engineered gingerbread houses, allowing everyone to enjoy the creative decorating during the visit. It was truly a joy to experience this vibrant neighborhood!
